The Client

The client is part of a global business portfolio and offers a range of medical and consumer skin health brands, through three business units: Prescription, Aesthetics and Consumer care. The client operates from 50 sites in 40 countries and is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland.

With 1,200+ employees and seven manufacturing sites, the client produces 215 million units annually. They focus on innovation in acne, rosacea, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, skin aging, sun protection, and skin cancer, promoting community initiatives in dermatology and engaging with the dermatology cancer community.

The Requirement

The client had a high-volume of portrait images. The client required an outsourcing partner to identify specified skin conditions present in the image, and annotate the affected area (create a bounding box around acne, blackheads, etc). The results were to be used in the manufacture and launch a new face cream for women.

Project Challenges

• Comprehending different skin conditions and differentiating between them
• Accurately drawing exact, miniature bounding boxes around acne, blackheads, etc.

The Trial

The client’s Research and Development team contacted O2I and presented their requirement. On assessing the same, O2I’s Business Development Managers suggested a quality test (trial) for 100 images.

During the trial, the client trained O2I resources via a web call and sent a training manual containing information on each skin condition via email. The images were transferred to O2I in a JPEG format via G-Drive.

The trial was completed with one resource working one business day with the help of a customized labeIing tool. Bounding boxes were created and labeled around the condition, and the final output was uploaded via G-Drive for the client to review.

Full-time Contract

The client signed a full-time contract to outsource 5,000 images monthly (1,500 weekly). O2I assigned three full-time resources to complete the project within eight business days.
