The Client

Our client is an architectural firm in the US. They were reputed for handling roll out projects that included interior space designs across multiple locations. The Client had approached O2I by considering our extensive experience in CAD modeling.

Client Requirement

The client preferred to sustain their brand value, image, and presentation even if the management changed. The client noted changes in buildings that were under their watch. However, these alterations were not reflected in the blueprints. Therefore, the client approached O2I for blue models and drawings of the building in its current state for accurate evaluation of structural changes. The purpose of the project was asset valuation and overhaul.

The client furnished aging building blue plans in DWG and PDF format which were later converted into as-built drawings with our modeling expertise. We also received point cloud data shared through Matterport. Our project team was tasked to produce models for 230 building sites within a short TAT of 2 months.

Project Challenges

In the outsourced project, we faced the following challenges -

• We were requested to deliver models for each site with a 12-hour turnaround which was tighter than average TAT
• The client had high expectations from us all of which had to be delivered in fleeting time

From requirement discovery to delivery, we took an organized approach to ensure smooth completion and delivery of the project. We also provided asset evaluation to monitor changes implemented over the year in addition to the following steps -

1. Requirement Discovery and Image Download

   We accepted the original blue plan of the building along with the process document from the client

2. Data Review

   Integrity checks were performed on the point cloud data and results were compared with PDF files that were provided for reference. RFI was raised requesting more information for mismatching data

3. Modeling and Reporting

   After drafting models we created itemized report differentiating changes from the original site blue plan

4. Quality Control Checks

   We carried out two-tier quality verification before submitting AutoCAD files and PDF copies of the as-built drawing for the client's reference

The Results

With minimal quality infraction, the client was satisfied with the models delivered by our experts. The client benefited by seamlessly upscaling the requirement volume. The client performed a site visit to inspect our brick and mortar office and signed contracts for additional projects in view of the initial success.
